Most of the animal meals I prepare do look alright, at least until any prey gets mixed in. Most is just fresh fruits and veg and commercial pet food, or formula or food mixed with formula for the wee ones.

Here is the big Mother’s Day feast I made for Momma Opossum.

After that I learned it’s best to mix everything up so they don’t just pick out their favorite bits and leave the rest, so now I crush the eggshell really well and mix it in with the omelet. I end up cleaning up a lot less stuff tossed out the dish now too.

Here’s momma and some babies chowing down. They’re all returned to the wild now, but we have 10 new babies now and 2 juvies.

No reason to not make it pretty just because it’s for a wild animal! Eating good is often a big part of their recovery.

It’s fun to see what food preferences they have. This momma opossum in particular was very fussy about her chicken and eggs, so it took a bit to figure out how to get her to eat properly. They totally have likes and dislikes for food just like we do.
