Hello everyone! Recently I posted in this community about my thoughts on migrating my mails over from google to apple, as I am already paying for iCloud. Thank you very much to everyone who commented, it was really interesting and helpful to read through!

So now I tried setting up an iCloud mail. It seems the only way to do so is by going to my iPhone/iPadā€˜s settings -> iCloud -> configure iCloud mail.

Thatā€™s where I run into a problemā€¦ My Apple ID is linked to my google mail email and I want to completely switch to an iCloud mail (which I currently donā€™t have). So when I now go there and try to create a new iCloud mail it runs into the error message shown in the screenshot (itā€™s German and basically tells me ā€žsomething went wrong, try againā€œ). I looked it up and came across many threads describing the exact problem, but so far I didnā€™t find any helpful solutions.

I already tried on iPhone and iPad (donā€™t own Mac), tried over vpn, without using my Adblocker DNS settings (adminforge). Restarting both also didnā€™t help.

Problem was solved!

Logged off from my Apple ID on my iPad, then instantly re-logged in and went to iCloud -> Configure iCloud Mail -> and I then was able to create an iCloud mail without any problems

    Log off iCloud from your iPhone and then re-login. After that, go back to create your iCloud email.

    I had the same problem a few days ago with my wifeā€™s iPhone. Logged off iCloud/AppleID and then logged back in. No problems in creating an iCloud email.

      Sounds like a good idea. Do you know if I will be facing any problems, when logging off my iCloud? Like with face-Id, banking apps or anything? I think I could as well do that on my iPad, right? Same Apple-ID, but less important apps

    Might be something that you need to try later. Or contact support if it persists. I would try myself since I also donā€™t have an iCloud mail but it says you canā€™t change it once you create one and I donā€™t need it so Iā€™d rather not.

      I tried it on 3 different days before I posted this and tested it again today, so it seems trying later wonā€™t help. Contacting support might be a good idea. Will do that when I find the time.
