      It’s just how they plan to ban porn.

      Come to my mind, I do faintly remember now, that some far-right blog in Hungary before the 2010 election did suggest an age verification law made in bad faith, to de-facto ban porn. He was some web developer (not the more infamous Tamás “Tomcat” Polgár, but likely the one who made the article “The answer to the Jewish question is Israel”), who brainstormed this idea with his fellow IT colleagues. As they found more and more problems with the implementation due to de-facto making it impossible to implement and still able to circumvent, he more and more liked the idea, especially if there would be no Section 230 style protections.

        In my state they did an age-verification law, but they literally didn’t include a way to fucking enforce it so everyone dropped the requirements and restrictions pretty much immediately. Except for PornHub which still tells you to contact your senator.
