As it stands melee weapons are only good to make funny videos. Would be nice to get some actual use out of them.
I wouldn’t say they are useless, but they are certainly limited. It’s pretty fun to hew through hordes of voteless, and the stun lance is actually a very reliable last-ditch weapon. As long as you get in your first hit, it will protect you from overseers and berserkers alike.
Is it? Never dared to try.
I admit, you have to be on the ham side of gaming to use it. But that’s what makes a helldiver a hell diver. Oh, and don’t try to fight flesh mobs, might seem obvious but it’s a poor idea :D
Before the last change to the stun stickies, it was somewhat possible to kill bobs with the lance in a pinch - though I can’t remember what on Super Earth I was thinking the few times I did it.

I’m pretty excited for this update TBH, I like the concept of the caves and am looking forward to seeing how it switches up gameplay.
Plus incendiary assault rifle looks ace
The devs talk about light-related gameplay features in caves had me wishing we had DRG-style flares in addition to flashlights.
