The majority of migrants detained and deported in President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown have no criminal record, yet Fox News has spent months claiming that raids and arrests are targeting criminals they dub “the worst of the worst.” A Media Matters review of Fox News segments from June and July found that 80% of coverage about Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Department of Homeland Security operations claimed that Trump’s primary targets were criminals while only 14% acknowledged that ICE has been sweeping up noncriminal migrants.Out of 574 segments, 461 suggested that the administration primarily targeted criminals or highlighted specific criminal migrants for deportation. Only 81 of those 574 segments acknowledged that ICE arrested and detained noncriminal migrants.Numerous people who have been arrested and detained by ICE have been subject to inhumane conditions.
It’s not suggesting the opposite, it’s just using a different definition of criminal.
When you say “criminal,” you’re referring to someone who has committed and/or been convicted of committing a crime. When Fox News uses the word, they mean people with skin that’s more than 1.5 shades darker than Hulk Hogan’s.
They pull the typical “ackschualllly” thing too and say “they’re all criminals, they came here illegally!”
I think they’ve picked up enough legal residents to not take that at face value at this point. I have to presume they’re all here legally until proven otherwise in court.

Kinda depends. Having crossed the border without authorization? Criminal offense. BUT, it seems when one is caught in the act, that’s only a civil offense. Overstaying your visa and the like? Civil offense.
