As the title says I’ve wanted to get into drones for some time and build my own. Recently figured I’d buy the controller and learn on sims first, but damn the controller seems so expensive since last time I checked.

I was told to go for the best for future proof and landed in TX16S Mark II Max Radio Controller (M2) but at £250 I don’t think I can justify that as the goggles will be expensive too although drone parts should be more reasonable. But what if I get bored etc.

Nope, never. No matter what hobby, you go for something affordable first, because you don’t have a clue what you will want later on or if you’ll even stick to it.

That’s the thing. It is affordable, just not sure if it’s justifiable if that makes sense.

Say I do enjoy it and it’s a hobby I keep for decades, then spending it on a cheaper one first would cost more in the long run. But then if I don’t get hooked then I’m stuck with an expensive one. Now I’m overthinking.

I got the radiomaster pocket elrs for less than 60€, 6 months in and still very happy with it. I don’t see myself needing anything better any time soon. Everything together, I spent about 750€. But if you go with analog, you can get it down to 550 or so.
