He described the subversion of what typically was an interagency review process and debate about arms transfers into one directed from the top-down at senior levels.

“It’s very much ‘this is what we are doing, and this is not for questioning, and let’s go ahead and do it.’ Which is unusual, because it’s not like we don’t handle, unfortunately, controversial sensitive arms transfers all the time,” he added. “And there is almost always room for debate, and often very lengthy debate, but that has not been the case in this instance.”

    Well that’s concerning.

You’re supposed to moderate the underlying fascism of the system enough to placate the mostly liberal professional PMC class workers that you need to run the apparatus of the state. It was fine when they were simply preventing them from having clean drinking water and killing them by the hundreds every few years. As long as the West Bank residents had an (Israeli) police they could call when settlers drove them out of their homes at gunpoint, there was at least a procedure to follow. This isn’t letting those people feel like everything is working as intended.

In all likelihood Josh Paul will remain a liberal, as Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden have.

Presumably the downvoter has faith that Josh Paul will abandon liberalism and embrace socialism.
