Neighbor Brian Kirby told Fox 8 News that he got home from work and “saw a woman in the middle of the street screaming.” After asking if she needed help, Kirby told the outlet that the woman ran towards the back of the home, and then he soon heard sirens approaching.

The press release said that the Tullahoma Police Department immediately arrived at the scene and “observed the pitbulls actively mauling the infant.”

The statement issued by Northcott’s office described the scene of the incident as “brutal.”

    “it’s the owners fault”

There are just as many awful labradoodle owners yet labradoodles are not out here killing people. It is the breed, it’s always been the breed.

Also, when you have a violent breed, it is the owner’s responsibility to have control over that damned thing. Not one, or the other, but a bit of both.

I grew up with a pitbull. When I was a child my dad was a logger and was extremely strong. One day our pitbull decided to attack another dog. My dad, even with all his might could not get our pitbull to let go. There is no controlling pitbulls. I Ioved that dog, but I would never recommend anyone have that breed.

I know of a lot of ropes and chains that are stronger than pitbulls. You control it by restricting it’s movement. You don’t control it’s nature. I think that it is a breed that should go the way of the dodo myself.

According to WOIO, citing neighbors, the family owned seven dogs who had reportedly been involved in prior attacks on animals in the neighborhood. As of now, the police have not revealed who the owners are of the dogs involved in the attack.

Kirby alleged to Fox 8 News that the dogs killed his pet cat and that he had intended to make a police report a week prior.

So this was a time bomb

More like they created creatures against their will and now some more of them are looking to exterminate their bloodline specifically

Would you rather that we do what we did with pigeons and spit-dogs? Namely abandon the species entirely. The spit-dogs didn’t fare very well, you’ll notice that breed doesn’t exist anymore.

Edit: for clarification, I don’t think we should put down the pit bulls that have never attacked someone. I think they should all be spayed and neutered. We don’t need to be breeding any more of this breed.

I just saw your edit. I would agree that they shouldn’t be bred. I think also a lot of breeding regulations should be strictly enforced because tons of cruelty comes out of breeding. Personally I would never ever give a penny to a dog breeder. I’m only interested in adopting dogs, specifically mixed breeds.

Your positions seem reasonable. I personally would also like to see pronged and shock collars outlawed. I made due with a Martingale collar and a muzzle for the first year. These days my girls are popular enough around the neighborhood that people have forgotten that I used to walk them with a hard plastic cage muzzle I could still give them tears treats through. The muzzle is still in my hand just in case they get too close to another dog.

I don’t know that anyone who despises a breed of dog is going to have a productive conversation with me since the entire premise of the conversation is hatred vs opposition to hatred. Half of you people probably despise dogs in general.

You should read my clarification edit. I have two lovely dogs. A husky/ pit bull mix, spayed, and a malinois/ redbone coonhound, also spayed. These two foster failures came to me from Camp Pendleton, with major behavioral problems. After a year of fostering them, I got the behavioral problems in check, but they cannot be in anyone else’s care, unless they know how to properly train a dog. My girls haven’t, and won’t ever have puppies, but they love living with me, as I gave them the jobs they desperately needed.

We don’t need more pitbulls being bred.

Yeah I saw that. Sorry, it’s hard to know who is a despiser in these communities. There are a lot of sociopaths out there who would feed millions of dogs into a wood chipper if they could. Whoever created this community is almost certainly one of them.

I think its more of an awareness thing. An ER doc said there are more dog bites they see from other larger breeds, but the PitBill bites they see are by far more extremely damaging or deadly.

My aunt had two pitbills when we were kids, they were extremely affectionate towards us and would knock us over to lick our faces, but at night they had to be caged separately or they’d try to tear each other apart out of perceived jealously.

My daughter rescues pitbills now, some have been sweet, some are just reactive and can’t be trusted.

Its not the dogs fault, its breeders and losers who want a “tough” dog that perpetuate this viscious cycle of abuse

Fair enough, I didn’t actually see the name of the community until after we started talking. It just showed up in my feed on /All.

Hey guys, you remember when those chihuahua mauled that infant and it’s grandpa to death last week? Damn that was savage!

We can also never forget that brutal dismemberment from that feral pack of pugs a couple months back.

          it’s not the breed

It isn’t the breed. All dogs do that. But when pomeranians do that, it doesn’t end in homicides.

          Don’t be ignorant.
