It feels like such an American thing that when the person you believe to be the guy with the direct line to God tells you to not act like fascist dickheads, you say “nuh-uh, you need to believe what we believe immediately”.

I mean to be fair, the USA were founded by people who didn’t want to listen to the guy in Rome or those with crowns on their head telling them what to do and to believe. And then went over a whole ocean and genocided the people already living there, just because they didn’t agree with the lectures on the bible.

“The Pope should tell us how to get to heaven,” says Romero. “He has no authority over the government; he has to stay in his lane.”

The Pope DID tell you how to get to heaven. Your Book told you. Jesus told you. Everybody else told you. You just don’t want to do it. You falsely believe that pedophile Nazi slavers automatically get into “Heaven” and you are obviously wrong.

Well it’s not that obvious. We’ve got slavery and pedophilia both in the bible, after all.

But you’d think that listening to the Pope would also be an important factor here, given that he’s supposedly speaking the words of god.
