Yep, back in November, I opted out. This made Gmail put 55k advertising/spam emails in my primary/only inbox (it stops categorizing). I spent a week manually unsubscribing from every business I’ve ever bought an item from in my life. But my inbox is at 0 unread and I don’t get much spam anymore. It sucked, but I guess I’m glad I did it.

Gmail’s entire existence is predicated on reading all your emails. For marketing, for spying, and of course they surely “accidentally” threw it into every model they’ve ever wanted to.

I use workspace to manage email for myself and my kids. They make it easy enough for a dumbass like myself. I started a long time ago for reasons and have just been there because it’s easy enough.

I have to find a less invasive place to take email, files, photos, and the deal w the domain stuff because I don’t know domain stuff. I’m also lazy. And and app would be nice because idc about setting all the stuff up anymore I just want it to work.

But im going to find it and disable it for all three of us. Thanks.

This was Fake News that was corrected: https://www.malwarebytes.com/blog/news/2025/11/gmail-is-reading-your-emails-and-attachments-to-train-its-ai-unless-you-turn-it-off

Google is a terrible company and has countless crimes to pay for, don’t need to manufacture anything else or scare people needlessly.

If you had a negative reaction to the idea though, you should probably still switch email providers. As others are saying, it’s just a matter of time before Google does get more aggressive pushing AI, abusing your data, and drowning you in more shit.

Updating accounts and migrating email from accounts that are over 20 years old sucked ass, but it feels great to be out of Google, save for YouTube.

Alt txt for OP: A series of debunked tweets, informed by a corrected MalwareBytes article, highlighting Google gmail features purported to pertain to AI in Nov 2025 and calls to action to disable identified settings.
