We’ve said it before, and we’ll keep saying it because apparently it needs repeating: Donald Trump is not a free speech president.
TBF, I don’t recall him ever claiming he was pro free speech for everybody - he obviously only had certain types in mind, but avoided saying the quiet part out loud (one of the few times he managed that for so long successfully).

The thing is that I actually do think there are also threats to free speech from the left, though this might be less of an issue than ~10 years ago. They are all bad and I won’t hesitate to criticize any of them.
I think it’s more that the right just wanted to say hateful gross shit without getting cancelled. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from the consequences of being a gross hateful dickhead
