Just created an account on GOG. Happy to support a European platform, plus their policy enabling users to store the games feels fantastic.

Hope they will increase support for gaming on Linux in the future.

Recommended for all fellow European gamers out there!

I use Lutris for games from GOG on Linux and it works ok. Welcome to the club!

I’ve switched to Heroic. It works much better. It downloads the game files directly, supports updates and even cloud saves a little bit.

Right there with you on this. Nothing against Lutris. Heroic just has been a much better experience for me. I use it to collect free games on Epic as well!

Thanks! I didn’t know gog had that option or that epic could leverage it (even on beta).

I relied more on steam to sync deck and desktop, knowing this will make gog much more interesting for me.

I respect both gog and steam, but for very different reasons.

Gog is built on no DRM and providing unadulterated access to games which is great since it means that they have very little avenues to screw you if they turn into a bad actor.

On the other hand I don’t care too much for the storefront that steam provides since it gives them far more ways to screw you, what actually has my respect is their integration with their server infrastructure, I admire that game developers basically just have to have their game on steam to take advantage of it, which even with the likes of epic and amazon has not been done well.

Overall though both of them are great from the very superficial standpoint of they are some of the last remaining tech companies that still put their customers first which is incredibly rare nowadays.

Steam is the OG online DRM. I’ll never forgive em for introducing that shit. Also expect Steam going to shit as soon as Gabe has to hand over the reigns.

Same goes for me, they have done a lot to set users free from Microsoft. I make an exception for Steam, and at the same time wanted to start supporting a European platform.

Budding EU gamer here! They had some sweet deals recently and I bought a few games. Well worth it.
