On Tuesday, Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala said that ICE agents were “not welcome.”

“This is a militia that kills … It’s clear that they are not welcome in Milan, there’s no doubt about it. Can’t we just say no to Trump for once?” the mayor said in an interview with Italy’s RTL 102.5 radio.

What legal basis would they have to be there?! They’re a subgroup of the Department of Homeland security. Sending them anywhere internationally should be considered an act of terrorism if not outright war!

Embassies are considered US territory (standard diplomacy) and I guess the administration thinks it’s important to give Team USA “top level security” (it’s ICE so we all know that’s a BS line.)

        This is a common misconception:

Contrary to popular belief, diplomatic missions sometimes do not enjoy full extraterritorial status and are generally not sovereign territory of the represented state.

        From wikipedia

Embassy security is provided by the Diplomatic Security Service, a separate agency that operates under the State Department, not Homeland Security.

Indeed but there is probably nothing that says other agencies can be involved (hello convenient loopholes the administration loves how you doing)

Nobody in Europe has an issue with US athletes, if they so desire they are welcome to stay here as long as they want until it’s safe again in the US.

Slovenia allows Israeli agents to carry weapons when they are protecting their people, so I guess that’s not so far fetched. Fuck that, though.

To normalize ICE as a paramilitary entity instead of an immigration agency.

The same thing Hitler did with the SS before he fully captured and controlled the German military.

    It’s happening here folks.

ICE does not conduct immigration enforcement operations in foreign countries

It should be obvious, but does ICE know that?

What happens when a trigger happy lowlife who’s grown used to unimpeded authority goes to Italy for the first time and sees Italians?

Are there not enough rent-a-cops in Italy?

Take away their guns, batons, and masks. Maybe let them have pepper spray provided by the Italian government, and only consider that option if the US pays for it in advance.

Italy is a sovereign nation, and needs to act like it.
