    Poor owl couple! 😦

So many animals get stuck/burned/killed from uncapped chimneys. I’m glad these 2 could get through the flue and get found before long.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) said tawny owls were the most common owls in the UK, but they had declined by more than 40% between 1995 and 2023.

“Because they only come out at night, they’re tricky to study and scientists don’t yet know the reasons for their decline, but habitat loss and a lack of prey might be part of the problem,” an RSPB spokesperson said.

We are pretty much the only cause for owl decline. We eliminate their homes, we poison their food, we hit them with cars, we shoot them, we let cats get at them, we leave dangerous obstacles for them to hit and get ensnared with, and so on. 😠 /end rant
