that it is, pillars is probably closer writing-wise, i guess, but it’s also a full ass rpg where the stats and equipment matter, and that feels like it’s against the spirit of the games
edit: and yeah you can turn the difficulty down to it not matterting, but like, the game wasn’t made for that; it was made so that combat is a big part of the content, at that point you might as well be reading a visual novel (which i highly encourage)

I liked the game, but the mechanics didn’t have the same level of ludo-narritive synergy to me that the Citizen Sleeper games did. Granted, Dust Punk has a big part involving organizing a revolutionary movement and I’m a bad leftist IRL lol - the struggling to get by in Citizen Sleeper just felt more relatable to me.
