I’m a big shell-head so I’m super biased, but this figure is amazing.

I feel like NECA really nailed the 1990 movie look. In hand, it feels like it just popped out of the movie and onto the shelf. The sculpt is just incredible, the skin texture and the details on the shell are perfect.

As for the articulation, it’s okay. It’s nothing out of this world, but it’s pretty good IMO and you can get him into the classic stances. And honestly, with all the reissues NECA has done in different formats over the years, it’s very hard to not have at least one version of these guys if you’re a TMNT fan.

Does anyone else have a specific release of these they prefer? (The VHS boxes, the 2-packs, the 4-pack?)

  • Great photo and analysis of the figure(s). I had the original release of them along with Splinter and really live them. The hand joints are a little brittle as are a couple other accessories and as you said, the articulation leaves a bit to be desired, but otherwise the figures are spectacular. I’m deliberating about whether or not to get the upcoming Mezco 1:12 release because they look fantastic with great articulation but that $300+ price tag is steep.

I’m too on the fence with the Mezco ones, I bought their first set of TMNT and they’re spectacular, like the best TMNT in my collection. But the movie ones… IMO they look weird in the pics, like their neck is missing or something. I got a little FOMO but I’ll pass for now.
