Ah yes “unaesthetic” and “unpleasant” very normal words to use for ethnic cleansing. Totally not deranged genocidal war criminal behaviour.

The Israeli Knesset (parliament, essentially) is much more varied in composition than the USA’s Congress. As I understand it, to call him “opposition leader” isn’t really fair as there are multiple opposition parties each with leaders.

Yair Lapid is technically an opposition leader as leader of the centre-right (globally) Yesh Atid party. They have some socially-progressive policies but are largely pro-military, economically-liberal, libertarian, and Yair Lapid has even taken time to publically denounced any indication he is left wing on multiple occasioms. Yair Lapid are really ‘fascism, but with some gays and women in leadership positions’.

However, if you click through to see the political and religious beliefs of each party (governing in the coalition and the opposition), you’ll find that there is no significant progressive party. There is no leftist or communist party.

The closest they have to a left wing at all in Israel’s governance are The Democrats, which declare themselves a Zionist party, and also a social democratic party. They have a whopping 4 members (of 180) in the Knesset.
