In addition to everything else mentioned into the article, if we’re going to make chatbots safe, there should be no age constraint for that. Chatbots shouldn’t encourage harm just because they’ve verified the users over 18 years old. There doesn’t need to be any verification. And companies like OpenAI, which are the biggest and clearly knew better, should be punished the hardest.

      I strongly disagree

Chatbot output should be covered by the first amendment. Trying to regulate chat bots will just lead of blanket censorship at best and a massive chilling effect at worst.

People should be aware that chat bot output isn’t trustworthy.

While you have a right, I don’t agree with your statement. It is literally written at the front of most chatbots that they they can make mistakes and are for entertainment purposes only, but people still go and off themselves or spiral into psychotic episodes.

So something needs to be done obviously and it is not the age verification that they are trying to push.

The trend of corpos introducing a new harm into the world and then blaming people for using their thing continues eh.

If only corporations could be held accountable, alas, they are clearly superior to humanity for the simple matter of not having to be responsible for the harms they cause - Unlike the rest of us, who are.

I do love the ouroboros of logic and morals we find ourselves in

Oh, it’s no complex ouroboros; what’s happening is crystal-clear and simple: just have enough money to redirect your issues onto others!
