Revenant Hill ends development after co-creator falls ill

The game got cancelled after the co-creator got sick. Get well soon, Benson.

“Over the past 12 months or so I got very sick and it didn’t go away,” tweeted writer and artist Scott Benson on November 7. “Eventually I was diagnosed with severe heart failure, most likely from a virus. It will continue to greatly limit me for the foreseeable future and as such I’ve had to stop working in the manner I once did.”

Benson said he’s working on his recovery before deciding what’s next. “Past few months are a blur of hospitals, doctors, tests, procedures, exciting new medications, and so, so much blood drawn,” he tweeted. “I’m sad about all of this. But on my end getting too upset about it is like getting angry at bad weather. This just happened. Life thankfully goes on.”

    That’s disappointing but health comes first and second, hope that he recovers from whatever he’s caught

    I’m no doctor but sounds like a side effect of covid :/
    Keep masking! Covid can cause damage like this to your heart, your lungs, and/or your brain… being vaccinated is not enough, it just softens the blow

    I’ve also been sick for nearly a year following a viral infection, though nothing wrong was found with my heart, so far. I’ll buy the game in solidarity, it was already on my wishlist anyway.

    Incredibly sad, Scott has always been such a positive icon and influence in the industry. Hope he manages through this.
