For those wondering about the tube they are running into, that is an artificial burrow. The owls typically don’t dig their own. They like badger holes, but others will do also. Owls are pretty lazy nesters.

I’ve always loved this video! Something about the total fear on their faces, only to completely subside when they see a perfectly sized tunnel, lol they’re cute as hell. Was also when I learned that owls can live in the ground, not just in trees

The rattlesnake sound they do to fake out intruders is pretty cool if you haven’t seen/heard.
That is an amazing survival adaptation to their environment, that would absolutely scare the piss out of me if I heard that while walking by.
