I don’t know how but somehow it feels like lemmy is even more full of arrogant, moronic libs than reddit. Such a bloodthirsty, warmongering pack of Western chauvinists. I can’t even stand being anywhere but lemmygrad now. I seriously fucking hate these people.

Some time recently I sorted by all and came across a post (on lemmy.world I think) shaming US Republicans for voting against sending weapons to Ukraine. I’m not a conservative either, but it really astounds me when liberals like that advocate for war and destruction then get on their ivory tower and think they are fighting for freedom and democracy.

They always do. Because liberals still navigate the world believing in the objective reality of morality. They think there is real true evil and real true good and that while the US may not be real true good (like them and their family are) at least they can all agree that Russia and China and Iran are real true evil.

Basically, liberals have that scene from Team America playing in their heads on loop during all political thinking sessions: “Yes, dicks fuck pussies. But sometimes dicks fuck assholes.” And they nod to themselves as they pat themselves on the back for understanding that despite the humor, the movie is absolutely right.

They’re “anti-war champions” until it’s the Republicans who are against the war, then they’re staunch warmongers.

Almost as if the whole “anti-war” thing in American politics was just another means of controlling narratives.

Surely you’re arguing in good faith? You do understand that of horrible people in the ussr, a Ukranian named Bandera could be argued as the worst one, considering all the collaborating with nazis he did (and thus, actual genocide). And Ukraine sure likes to lionize that Ukrainian Nazi for some reason marx thinking

That’s why Lemmygrad is my chill space. I recommend avoiding unnecessary lib brainrot for the sake of your own mental health. Maybe there is a need to tell people what Marxism-Leninism actually is and what is is not, but I think that spending too much time arguing with libs online is a waste. I salute my comrades with nerves of steel, though, if they can do it and not go insane.

Agreed. I would add that even stupid views should be challenged with basic respect for the person, at least as long as they seem to ask genuine questions. Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish if they come in good faith, but other people following the discussion might learn something instead of getting the negative impression on us.

Don’t worry, comrade. They won’t be able to prop up their unjust societies for much longer. The feedback loops are happening as we speak, and the multipolar world struggles to be born. Their mouths’ll be running a whole lot less when a spent character means another iota of gut-gnawing hunger, or skin-roasting heat.

I’m not sure if that’s the best course of action. I didn’t want to do leftist infighting over on the lib instance, but some of your comments over there make it seem like we are the ones lusting for more war and death. I think there’s a clear difference between arguing (even angrily) with libs and trolling with “hope your country gets nuked”. It makes those of us actually engaging with them on good faith and trying to educate look bad by association.

Is there a way to stay federated so they have to read our posts sometimes but they can’t downvote? They can comment, then we can mock them, but silently, anonymously downvoting is too cowardly to abide.

Mostly just annoying. Kinda wish the site didn’t have downvotes or maybe even upvotes. Specifically downvotes though are never used to indicate “This info is factually wrong” or “This is a racist comment.” I mean, they might also be, but the primary usage despite any intention years ago is a cathartic “fuck you!” to the person you’re downvoting. It’s used so much for that purpose that I basically mentally swap downvotes for upvotes when it’s a topic that will anger libs. Their disapproval just shows me I probably said something correct (but also further shows the worthlessness of the downvote button). Probably the “like” button is about the only useful such device to indicate engagement but limit butthurt kneejerk downvotes.

And before anyone thinks I’m making this like my life priority: I’m really not. I don’t care that much. It’s just one of those things which seems outdated and should go away but probably never will because the anticipated asshurt is so high. I absolutely know reddit soys, chud or libs, would lose their minds crying over it if it happened (see the time YouTube removed their dislike button- people fucking still try to code it back in lol).

Welp, back to downvoting all the liberal comments :)

I appreciate the recommendation, but I’ll probably keep slogging on the downvotes as badges of honor. After so many years of pissing off swarms of redditors, well, time to do some more I guess. So far I have enjoyed the times I’ve seen people handwringing over the .ml domain (when they learn it can mean more than the country it’s meant for lol) and how they’re like “well yeah spez sucks, BUT ARE WE GONNA GO TO A TANKIE SITE!?” I love it.

I doubt they’re feds. Living in the US, I can guarantee that the level of indoctrination here is so absolute, you don’t need to hire or recruit people to spread the propaganda. The kind of messages and symbols used in children and family shows, what they spin in the history books for public and private schools, and the news we’re bombarded with daily, and how its filtered through social media, all reinforce the same narratives and prejudices, raising generations that don’t even need to be paid to make propaganda - they think it’s the truth. There are whole swathes of the population who think they’re fighting some great crusade against tyranny by shitposting about China online.

It’s annoying, and they are a threat to our ability to come together and communicate, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the feds are even trying with them. The anti-communist hate in the US - and the racism against Chinese and Russians - is intense enough that they don’t have to do anything other than keep the news cycles going. The libs do the rest.

Most Americans have reactionary views. Out in the wild you will encounter very few MLs. Even their anti-war people aren’t actually anti-war anymore or at least for the right reasons, it’s usually because it costs THEM too much.

I’m sad to see the lib infestation on lemmy.ml. I joined in June just before all the mass migration and it was a comfy place. I really appreciate seeing the regulars on lemmygrad.ml posting news from the other side of the spectrum on !worldnews@lemmy.ml, even though they tend to get bombarded with downvotes (without any well-considered, thoughtful responses as to why they don’t agree with said articles in the comments).

And then there is lemmy.world. Like you said, such a hateful and bloodthirsty hive mentality, it’s impossible to communicate your points when they refuse to reconsider their semantics and “facts”. Their response is always “AUTHORITARIAN! GENOCIDE! WHATABOUTISM”, as if those words reduce to anything outside of their societal domains—their language game—so to speak.

It all comes down to the mods, I suppose. If we have enough solid, socialist mods that don’t take any shit then they can keep the libs in check. When large instances don’t have that, the libs run amok.

Liberals are neither intellectual nor do they actually want dialogue.

They’re so hostile to differing opinions that they have sullied the very word for propagating ideas. The connotation that such an action is inherently negative and something that entails deception was added by them. The redefinition of the word propaganda is ironically the result of liberal propaganda.
