Even weirder if you’re actively keeping the score with a full-blown Daily Show or Fox News liberal who you’re close to because over the years you’ll be able to be like “Hang on, 6 months ago you were saying that these were the good guys and that [previous villain] was destined to collapse within mere months…” and they’ll give you the blank stare.
I swear that some people just parrot the narratives that they have been exposed to over the past week but nothing ever sinks in. Shit’s wild to behold, especially when you’ve got a front row seat to it.
(Oh, I forgot to mention one of the most obvious inversions of good guy to bad guy - Stalin and the USSR were held up as WWII heroes in the media but that obviously didn’t last for long. Still it’s kinda jarring to see stuff like Stalin being treated this way in lots of Dr Seuss propaganda from that period.)

I’ve seen a full - length War Department propaganda film released during WWII that basically spent the entire runtime praising the USSR. Of course I can’t find it on youtube anymore. I doubt it was scrubbed and am more certain that youtube search continues to suck ass
Is the blank stare satisfying to receive, at least? Just not much brain activity with some of these types, I guess. Uncritical TV 24/7 news consumers.
The USSR one seems double-wild when you consider that the first Red Scare and allied interventions in Russia had been happening pretty recently. In the span of like 40 years, the USSR went from “big scary commies” to “THIS MAN IS YOUR FRIEND! HE FIGHTS FOR FREEDOM!” and back to “big scary commies”… again…
It gets weird when you keep score.
