In this case the research is significant and it is reasonable to assume that avid readers here know the sources and need less research to respond quickly.

Minsk Protocol (Sept 5, 2014)

Early on both sides supported militant groups with arms (e.g. the far right right Azov group for Ukraine and DPR for Russia), the governments did agree to a ceasefire, the groups didn’t care and both sides violated it numerous times. Minsk II (Feb 12, 2015)

The DPR tried to capture Debaltseve right before the ceasefire and failed to do so completely before it came into effect. As a result fighting within the city continued and the DPR even claimed the ceasefire did not include Debaltseve. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Debaltseve so this was also violated by Ukraine too, but now we see a shift towards more Russian violations.

Later violations

The last violations where Ukraine can be assigned any noticeable role in are around 2020. So the image/meme is mostly true but also propaganda (as to be expected). I also do not know where the number of 20 agreements comes from. I do know/find details of about 8. Maybe somebody else can provide a list?

So in summary: The message is true. Russia and mainly the DPR troops they support can not be trusted to follow ceasefires as long as the conditions at the front do not significantly change.

I like sticking to the facts and do not agree with the presentation in the image, but at least its still way way closer to the truth than Russian propaganda. In this case sticking to the facts would even have sent the same message and not give the Russians any point where they can base their counterpoint on. On the other side differentiated and detailed analysis is not that well suited to steer up emotions and support for the cause.

Correct. Reading the documentation this code was part of Google Messages and has now be put into a separate APK for reasons to increase transparency and safety as the app as no internet access (while google messages has) and thus it can be shown that all processing is done locally.

I also see other wild claims about it. e.g. that it consumes 2GB of RAM because its specs say that it has system requirements of 2GB RAM and so on.

There are so many Google Apps which really do send your data into the cloud. Starting from the keyboard! It is quite a bit out of date luckily. Signal-Desktop already stores data encrypted for quite a while. However it used to store the decryption key right alongside it. Recently (a few month ago) Signal switched to storing the key within the systems keystore, greatly improving security. Also causing a flood of users complaining that the can’t just copy their .config to a new desktop and retain their chat history. This may have prompted the release of this new feature :)

It does include it. The article list it in detail: 36.79% of the Linux users use the steam deck. And the number is falling, which means there are more users also using Linux on desktop PC (or other gaming handhelds)

But that may also just be statistical noise.

Mind, that this is just the company which published the initial reports that the defects in desktop CPUs are systematic, so I can see why Toms Hardware deems their Post a reliable source.

With very little initial work, physical media is also very convenient.

I buy a disk, put it into a specific drive, get a instant message when its ripped, check its name and put it into a folder. From there my mediabox converts it to a managable size and adds it to the collection.

Whin I turn on my TV I see all these Movies and shows neatly presented by Kodi. I have a tiny Wireless keyboard and can start any in under a second. No buffering, no adds, no matter if the router is connected, and no fear of ever loosing access.

Its great.

Exeptions are there of couse, I would love to buy The Orville, but they just don’t want my money!

Because somebody has to create that media. And that person they have to live. (Or better that huge team when it comes to movies) So they have to earn money, so somebody has to pay them.

I also enjoy that today I can test if something fits me If I am skeptical. But I also always make sure to pay back creators for things I enjoy so that in the future there will be more things I enjoy.

Of course I understand anybody who can not afford media and am happy to subsidize them with the part I am paying for good shows. But if you have a Plex server, you can afford it. And If you say its close just start with things you like most and at least say “thank you” to them.

Client Side Scanning würde ja die Verschlüsselung direkt nicht angreifen (nur sinnlos machen wenn die Daten vorher schon ausgeleitet werden…) Alternativ müssen sie es vertagen bis eine Methode gefunden ist, die Inhalte trotz Verschlüsselung zu erkennen. Nur wäre die dann ja per Definition unsicher, ergo wäre das Gesetz Luft.

Für eine Hürde gibt es wenig Argumente. Im Bundestag und Geschichtsuntericht argumentiert man meisten mit der Weimarer Republik: Zu viele kleine Parteien hätten das Parlament unfähig gemacht und der NSDAP den Aufstiegt erleichtert. Schaut man sich die Geschichte an, waren es gerade die großen Parteien die sich nicht einigen konnten und die NSDAP wäre wie die AfD heutzutage bequem über die Hürde gesprungen.

Im Europaparlament… das weiß ich wirklich nicht mehr, wie man eine Hürde begründen will. Es gibt keine Koalitionen, es gibt Fraktionen und in den Fraktionen entscheiden die Abgeordneten tatsächlich noch nach Gewissen. Somit sind auch die Guten dann stark, wenn sie über viele Parteien verteilt sind.

Sicher wären nicht alle Kleinparteienwähler zu den Grünen gegangen, wenn es eine Hürde gäbe. Also Pirat hätte ich dann die Wahl zwischen den Grünen und der Linken, beide mit kleinen bis gewaltigen Abstrichen. Die FDP nicht, sie war mal nah aber ist nun ganz fern von Piratenthemen. Ohne Hürde gab es in der letzten Legislaturperiode mit Patrick Breyer einen Abgeordneten der ganz genau die Werte vertreten hat, die mir wichtig sind.

Ich hab die letzten Wochen an Infoständen gestanden, im Umfeld über Chatkontrolle und Vorratsdatenspeicherung aufgeklärt, Newsletter geschrieben, Plakatiert und mehr, dennoch haben wir nun die Stimme für Datenschutz im EU Parlament verloren.

Frustrierend ist auch wie knapp es war. Wäre der Stimmenverteilungsschlüssel wie bei der letzten EU-Wahl, wären wir gerade noch reingekommen. Oder hätten wir ein paar Wähler mehr mobilisiert.

Auch die Tschechischen Piraten haben wohl 2 von 3 Sitzen verloren, das war zu erwarten. In der Regierung zu sein ist nie gut für Wahlergebnisse. In Luxemburg und Frankreich hat es nicht gereicht. In Luxemburg waren es immerhin gute 6%, aber da gibt es halt nur wenig Sitze.

Ich hoffe jemand anderes übernimmt die Rolle NGOS wie Digitalcourage und Netzpolitik mit brandheißen Infos aus der EU Gesetzgebung zu versorgen. Die Piraten werden dann wohl erst mal nur Kommunal wirken. Bzw. noch nachwirken, ich freu mich darauf mit datenschutzfreundlichen Messengern an Whatsapp Gruppen teilnehmen zu können.

Die musste zugegebenermaßen erst gefunden werden, den durch die Transparenz kam die Klatschpresse an jede Diskussion zwischen Mitgliedern und machte daraus einen Skandal, selbst wenn die Mitglieder keinerlei Position hatten. Inzwischen achtet man da mehr auf die Außenwirkung. Die Basisdemokratie und effiziente Arbeit funktionieren wunderbar. Um das zu Prüfen kann man sich die Erfolge ansehen die mit nur einer Person im EU-Parlament erzielt wurden.

Es gibt immer mal wieder Umfragen, jeder kann jederzeit in jeder der AGs zu Themen mitwirken, man kann Vorstandsitzungen zuhören und direkt danach Fragen stellen und Vorschläge machen, mit dem BEO (Basisentscheid-Online) geht demnächst auch ein selbst entwickeltes Tool online mit dem nachvollziehbare Abstimmungen zwischen Parteitagen möglich sind. Ich glaube keine andere Partei kann in dem Punkt mithalten ;)
