I wasn’t sure about a young guys name out here and asked someone “do you know the young black man who’s new in the neighborhood? I wanted to thank him for helping someone I know the other day.” After I helped host an event.

holy shit this person got mad at me. Said I needed to call them african canadian or colored. I get so confused by terms these days. Same with indigenous and native. I live in an area with many, and know some, and different ones prefer different words. I call one of them one term, and other that same one, they might get offended. I try to be as respectful as I can, gets hard.

Example, my therapist goes by indigenous, but her wife goes by native. So I thanked her wife one day for helping me at a indigenous event I was at, and she said “we call it a native event”.

I’m having such a hard time the past 2 years in particular, and trying really hard with all of these changes in terms, pronouns and every time I think I understand it, apparently I don’t. I have one trans friend who I see occasionally and thankfully they agree with me and makes me feel a bit less nutty.

My girlfriend is considering changing her orientation to some new wording I’ve literally never heard of all of a sudden now too. I just found a tonne of new things, like grey sexual, demisexual, etc. People I’ve been in employment/training programs with have changed their name and gender 2-3 times in the past year, and each time I see them I get confused with what to say or call them. It is oddly overwhelming.

I’m 27 and it’s been slowly getting at me on and off in spurts for 5 years almost. Sometimes I get it coming back on my crown and then it goes away. Now the front is receding.

Friend of mine tried it, and has the high res textures, med settings and FSR and maintaining pretty close to 60fps constantly (pretty sure those were the settings). Looked good and played good.

I’ve got it figured out enough for now, but still can be hard without using Lemmy Explorer to find things. I am hoping some apps like Memmy can incorporate better search functionality. There is so many that have similar/same names and its annoying finding the active one.

Also gets a bit weird thinking “Oh just found this cool community” and then seeing i need to make a new account, i understand it though.

I am. Did it full time for a living for about two years when I was sick. Had $300 dollars left to my name, and turned it into over $200k and paid off stuff for me and my girlfriend and then got a little house.

Just started a job as a social media coordinator and informational officer for the community. Was taking pictures (WIDE pictures) of an event recently with permission of the event creator.

In the corner, an older lady selling purses was giving me a death stare. And after I circled around from talking to some folks, she yelled at me to come over to her booth. And she said “why did you just take my picture”, I explained why and said she wasnt even in the photo other than a leg.

She got cranky at me cause she thought I wanted to steal her purse designs for my own creations. I am 27 years old, a very straight male. She is a 70+ year old woman, shaking and fuming mad. I came back again after and had to show that she wasn’t in any pictures, and said I would blur anything out that she would possibly be in.

Well, I took a picture again for some people, and her business was in the background. So, I blurred it out of the image since she was getting cranky with me. Since she knew who I was uploading for, she went on later and saw the image I uploaded and then got mad at me for slightly blurring out the small part of the image she was in. Said she felt left out and wanted to be in the image. Then tried to tell me I should buy my girlfriend one of her $130 recycled purses.

I honestly hope I get more things like this happening, I love this kinda nonsense lol

EDIT: Another quick one, I worked as a electrician/labor worker for a year at a company, and one night we were working on a school and a drunk guy came driving through on a john deere tractor holding a big jug of beer. He managed to fit through the double doors we had open at midnight to move things in and out to our storage container, and drove it around the school hallways, and the security guard didnt know what to do and just let him drive around lmao. Guard was only like 19 years old and just sat on his phone, we talked to the guy driving and opened up the next doors and helped him out.

Stupid drama and community rivalries. And ads in apps.
