I just finished Tatouine by Jean-Christophe Réhel.
I LOVED this book. It was written from the first person POV and tons of pop culture references but I was really sucked in and enjoyed the read.

I had an insulin resistant horse. That was a huge management challenge. I was fortunate enough to have her at home, I don’t know how I would have managed it if she was boarded out and I had to rely on another to ensure she got her meds/no access to sugar, etc.
It’s pretty niche and it’s not “a little more”…more like double…but as an equestrian I will always go big name for a saddle. Spent too many years compromising and there is SUCH a significant difference that I will never go sub $2000 for a new saddle.
Coca cola and Heinz ketchup.
I showed it to my fiance and while I ADORED the rewatch he was very meh and I was questioning him as a person. Then one day he asked me to watch it again so he could watch Andre the Giant again. And then, I’m convinced, it spoke to him and showed him the magic. He loved it. Quoted it. And will watch it with me when I have it on.
I really think mindset and willingness to dive into it is a necessity.
God, what a beautiful movie.
Oh damn…the Princess Bride, too!
Scarface, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, There’s Something About Mary
Listening to the Mothman episodes of Last Podcast on the Left made me pretty scared of West Virginia.
I have joined a few similar ones and try to be active but there’s very little to work with. But fair suggestion. I’m just a consumer more than a creator 🤷♀️ my activity on Lemmy FAR surpasses my activity on Reddit, however. Trying to do my bit.

It is making me miss the communities I used to follow on Reddit that don’t (yet?) Exist here. But it is a comfortable way to get my distraction scrolling in.
It scared the hell out of me the first time because it somehow knew what I had in my arms and I didn’t know what to scan to check out. But the items kept appearing and I didn’t know if they were actually mine or not and it was a very creepy black mirror-esque experience for me.
Great store though, really impressed.
Erin Parsons Makeup is my newest rabbit hole. A really neat look at makeup through history!
Agree. 8 hours is a struggle. You get 5 hours of serious focused attention from me…then I lose steam and half heartedly answer questions and fight to keep my eyes open and focused or zone out in a meeting. But the 5 hours I do is laps around my coworkers and solid friggin work. Also to note I work remote and it’s the only reason my 5 hours is so fruitful.
10 hours would be a nightmare.
I just lost my very beloved barn cat to a suspected coyote attack.
It really sucks. He was a feral cat not deemed suitable for a home and he went from hissing at me for weeks to a total cuddly love…with a wild wall climbing streak.
He knew love, friendship, a warm bed and a full belly but the guilt I have is all consuming. He lived a great life but man…my barn feels very sad and quiet these days.
10-11 years now
All of my animals end up having weird special needs or differing medical issues.
Too late now I have 2 years worth purchased 🫠
I’ve recently encountered a cat rescue that rehomes their feral cats without giving them their rabies vaccines and NOT disclosing this. Ask me how I know and am 11 needles deep…they asked me to lie to public health and maintain that rabies isn’t actually necessary and I wasn’t really put at risk (?!)
It’s fucking ludicrous and public health barely responded.
I am all for saving and rehoming ferals but holy hell VACCINATE AGAINST RABIES. The reason it’s not as prevalent is BECAUSE OF THE VACCINES.
