One option is to hijack a prefix by announcing a more specific one. This should then route traffic to the more specific prefix to your AS. You can then analyse and forward the traffic, attempt to impersonate a server within this range or simply drop the incoming packets.

As the author described, this case might be a bit more tricky, as BGP prefers shorter routes to longer ones. However, it seems that some longer-than-necessary routes were in use.

Yes exactly, additionally you probably don’t want to host your pi hole for external use (mobile phone or laptop in a different network) for the reason of latency.

The delay that is imposed by visiting your pi hole at home for each DNS request is going to be very unpleasant.

Rather rely on an external dns provider that provides pi hole like funticionality.

But this does not mean that you can’t also host your pihole for internal use. I use it not just for removing ads, but also to allow the access of local domains.

I use duckdns, and thus have a xyz.duckdns.org domain, that points to the dynamic ipv4 address of my server. I do not host my own DNS server, rather I rely on a cheap Website / Mail / domain bundle. There I can enter my duckdns domain as a CNAME DNS entry. Thus every DNS lookup that is not for the remote hosted Website will resolve the duckdns domain and finally end at my server.

I am not sure where you want to host your DNS server or also for what specific reason… If you don’t have a domain, you kind of don’t need to host a DNS, and every domain provider I had, also offered a DNS server with it.

I think that should work, due to DivestOS being a fork of LinageOS just like eOS, and in fact the camera of eOS is just the cam of LinageOS (thats what i meant with supplychain problem). So i assume that DivestOS might just have the same camera app as eOS

But you could probably confirm that by looking into the repos

Had to check real quick: Yes in the current Version of the stock cam it does recognise all cameras and even takes snappy pictures. That was the problem before but it seems to be patched.

I have e os on FP4 and I would describe my experience as follows: Do you want to switch from IOS to Android without loosing the style of the launcher and gain some privacy? Go for it

If you want an Android that does a lot for you and give you tools like a vpn, a tracker blocker ect… Go for it

If you want to customize your experience (e.g. have an “normal” Android launcher, switch accent colors …) ? You get a very rocky experience to say the best.

And at least for the FP4, some stock apps like the Cam were just not working, but to be fair it seemed like that was a suppychain problem…

I consider changing to calyx Os, expecting to get a more customizable Android.

Dein Vorschlag geht davon aus das die Anzahl der eingereichten Ideen überschaubar ist.

Jetzt kann man sich ja leicht eine Gruppe motivierter Trolle vorstellen deren Intension es ist das System zu stören.

Diese Gruppe könnte einen DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) Angriff auf genau solche Foren fahren. Oder in Trumps Worten “Flood them with shit”. D.h. einfach unglaublich viele sinnlose Ideen in besagte Foren zu pumpen, das die guten Ideen untergehen und somit ein defacto Stillstand erzeugt wird.

Und wenn man jetzt wieder Moderatoren ins Spiel bringt (s.o.) gibt es wieder die Möglichkeit auf Machtmissbrauch, und wenn man Algorithmen zum Moderieren nutzt hat man die gleichen Probleme wie einschlägige aSoziale Medien
