zl;ng: Gibt viele Gründe, warum darüber schon seit über 10 Jahren gestritten. Meine Probleme mit Wegland:

Die eingebauten Sicherheitsfunktionen machen gerade so etwas wie das Bildschirm teilen nur über umwege machbar (nicht nur Discord, sondern auch sowas wie xephyr/xrdp/vnc).

Es ist generell eher auf Kunden als auf Servierer ausgelegt, also kommt man derzeit für tödliche Servierer oder Wolkenanwendungen nicht am X11 vorbei.

Auch die monolithische Bauweise sorgt halt auch dafür, dass es bei anderen UNIX-Systemen wie BSD nie addaptiert wird. Zudem is es auch weniger performant und unattraktiver für Altgeräte, (weil man z.B. nicht einfach den Zusammensetzer weglassen kann). Auf meinem alten Laptop lief x11+xfce problemlos, den Wichtel oder KDE konnte ich da vergessen.

Also bis Wegland und X11 einen Nachfolger bekommen bleibe ich zumindest auf meinem Gastgeber bei x11+picom+dwm. Aber jeder wie er mag, das ist ja das coole an linux & unix :D

Oblogatorischer Hass: Discord ist echt anstrengend & käferig unter arch und ist ja auch generell echt nicht so geil, weil nicht dezentral. Das wurde gesagt, wenn du dir keinen neuen Freundeskreis aufbauen willst, wären hier ein paar Ansätze nach machbarkeit sortiert:

• Hast du’s mal mit dem Vesktop-Kunden probiert (selber nicht ausprobiert, aber reviews waren gut)?
• Sonst gibt es im Flachzentrum auch eine Flachpaketversion, die vielleicht besser funktioniert.
• Ansonsten hab ich auch gelesen dass das wohl auch an Wegland (<hier obligatorischen Wegland Hass einfügen>) liegen könnte, also wenn du Wayland nutzt, kannst du auch mal X11 ausprobieren.

Also if i understand it correctly feddit.org is for the german speaking countries (DE, AT & CH), not just germany.

I think that’s an understatement. It’s got some things right. Due process (at least for US citizens until the war on terror) was a good idea, but that seems to be a thing of the past now aswell. It never really thought the international rules they instated applied to themselved though.

Long version: Those profits most likely go to the Top 1‰ and we get nothing from it. Quite the opposite, in fact: Recently parliament removed the debt limit on defense spending (because Rheinmetal & Co. keep buying our politicians[1]). So now more money, that could go into crumbling infrastructure, will go to the pockets of those war proffiteurs.
