You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK that if you are planning an outdoor event, you can check where the shade and shadows will fall on a given day and time
8·9 months agoThis is so amazing. And accurate. Thanks!
We have tern gsd and can only recommend it. We regularly take it with regio train to go camping or do bike trips, the size is the upper limit by db rules but so far no complaints by train conductors.
The weight can be disadvantage, the bike is quite heavy. Also do buy belt version, you do not want to mess with the long chain. Front basket with a euro crate is awesome and a lot of ‘stuff’ will fit in. If you use ortliebs, they must be modified to be able to fix the hook to the frame.
I see them a lot and I mean A LOT here in Berlin, it’s very popular bike for a reason. But muli is also a nice alternative you may want to consider.

Linux@lemmy.ml•in most gnu/linux distributions that use xfce or gnome, why is the default music/audio player rhythmbox??
6·1 year agoExactly. Use strawberry, that’s the best audio player.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What Greek myth do you like the most, and which one do you dislike the most?
6·1 year agoYeah I came here just to say the same. BTW it was Dionysus, he fashioned a phallus from the fig tree that grew on the grave and fucked himself with it. The story is most likely a Christian propaganda. I still love it though.

I am writing this from mi9s. Bought it six years ago and I use and abuse it daily. The only thing I’ve replaced is the rubber back cover.
It’s good phone but like with everything no software updates make it obsolete quickly. And bootlader unlocking is a pain in the ass. My next phone will be definitely something I can flash with Lineage once vendor decides it is no longer profitable to provide updates.

I am surprised no one mentioned Decoder (1984). Starring W.S.Burroughs, Gen P. Orridge and Christiane F. of bahnhof zoo. One of there best underground movies ever made.
RIP to the Minsk fridge my granny used until 2022. Built end of 70s, that thing was continuously in use for 50 years.
Oh yeah this one was really bad.

Both are a naked lunch level mindfuck. Don’t treat it as a book, but rather as a stream of consciousness on the acid trip. Don’t try to make any sense, just ride the wave.

1·1 year agoThat’s exactly what I started doing this year. I’ve read 32 books already and it gives me much more satisfaction than watching stupid “like & subscribe to my patreon” videos.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what's the best habit you've developed and how did you develop it?
8·1 year agoNot sure if best, but:
- cleaning the kitchen in the evening. I listen to podcasts or music while doing it, and the mornings are easier as I don’t have to confront mountains of dirty dishes.
- reading - I try to dedicate at least one hour a day and read a book. I guess with general decline of the content on the Internet it got much easier to go offline.
- meditation and relaxation techniques - I started doing this as a teenager and thanks to hours I’ve put in I have no problems falling asleep. Even when I am high on caffeine I can relax my body during the night and wake in the morning not feeling like a zombie.
I have Dynalink DL-WRX36, running openwrt since day 0. Iirc it was 60 euro year ago. Everything works, wireguard too. No complaints. I believe there is openwrt stable build for it already, though I an still running snapshot as I am too lazy to update.
They collect minor things like search terms and app usage info. The rest is stored on the server only if you explicitly upload a photo or a recorded track or something similar. No collection of location data or WiFi networks etc. The telemetry can be blocked of course if you have such setup (VPN+pihole for example)

Yeah I bought their parka what, 15 years ago? Maybe more. I wear it every winter, it’s awesome. Lot of pockets, high quality fabrics. Without doubts BIFL quality. I wouldn’t recommend it for rainy winters though, when wet it’s quite heavy.
