Bayshore has some nice areas, great paths along the river, and the Metro and FarmBoy are close. It’s a mix of poor and wealthy, so look around before deciding. Spend a couple hours walking around for fun, just to see. But you want to be on the river-side of Carling/Richmond (they cross paths)

I want to read his “Meaning of the City” because I just like City theory, but I keep postponing in case it’s just Christian morality lessons. The anarchist Christian angle makes this sound more interesting.
