Hey y’all, I’m wondering what (if any) privacy-respecting Smart Home products there are. I understand that “smart” things are inherently privacy invasive, but I’d imagine some are worse than others. Surely Amazon Alexa isn’t the best, right?
I’m really not looking for anything special, just a company with some basic smart items (bulbs and outlets mostly) and a mobile app that doesn’t suck and doesn’t ask to read my text messages to dim the lights.
TIA and please LMK if this isnt the right forum for this question.

I can very warmly recommend these guys for switching and power/energy monitoring of all your appliances and devices. They support all the standard open protocols, work offline and even support custom firmware and scripting. At 23€ per plug they are pretty decent for what they can do. You can often get them in 3-5x packs for ~15€ per piece from other stores.

The company has plenty of other products all using the same open and hackable design.
Personally i have a couple of these connected to keyboard shortcuts on my PC to turn certain things on and off easily.
I also use on of them to log daily energy production and power throughout the day of my balcony mounted solar installation.
