This article reports the groundbreaking results of China’s NEO wireless minimally invasive brain–computer interface trial, where all 32 paralyzed patients achieved successful at-home brain-controlled grasping.
Even if we ignore the blatant “chinaman bad”, this doesn’t make any sense. Why would they disappear people? This would still be a great outcome for them even with 80% success rate or something. The only difference between 80% and 100% is a tiny bit of nerd cred in recreational science communities. Even the logistical effort of “disappearing” people, while keeping everyone quiet about it, is clearly not worth the benefit here, let alone the potential international scandal.
Probably a lot. The academic honesty in China is abyssmal. I wouldn’t trust a single research article out of there without other independent institutions verifying the results and trying the experiments themselves.
How many failures did they just make disappear?

Ah yes, the sinister Chinese. Even when they’re doing something good, they’re secretly doing something bad
love 2 come to the science comm and cast aspersions with absolutely no evidence
something something that which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed similarly etc
weird racist loser
How much gas did you huff before writing that comment?
