Minneapolis seems to be in a state of protest, but it’s not clear.

Maybe - MAYBE 5% of Americans are involved in protest. Get that over 30% before you come here telling me that USAians don’t support invading former allies.

The world is tired about hearing of how many heroes there are protesting in the USA while it’s plainly evident that millions are just going about their daily life. Nobody should be at work. “We don’t support Trump” sent from your office doesn’t do fuck all for the rest of the world.

I will issue royal decrees about what others should do while providing no solutions to the real problems with enacting my demands, nor will I even acknowledge those real problems, for I must feel superior on The Internet

I will comment on the person and not the content of the comment, because I don’t like to look inward and realize that I’m part of the problem.

There was no content to the comment, quite literally every facet of my response was ignored so the poster could continue insulting victims of a fascist regime. Sorry, I know you did your best here, but don’t worry! You’ll get it next time. I mean I won’t see it, 'cause you’re getting blocked too, but I’m sure you’re capable of growth! 🙌

Edit: How about if I put it like this?

Your country has a standing army and leadership with incentive to do something about this. So where the fuck are all of you, exactly?

Yes, that commenter and you are part of the problem. Lack of nuance fools upvoting the OOP too…

I gave you a solution, but you USAians can’t act on it. Your defeatist attitudes are why we’re upset.

I can’t vote in your election and I cant visit your country to protest and your representatives don’t read mail from foreigners. You can do all those things.

Implying we aren’t already doing all those things, and shifting the goalposts from “get over 30% of the population protesting”? Okay, keyboard warrior. Go back to bed. We’re busy being killed here. Sleep smugly!

I’m eagerly anticipating news not hearing of violent repression of the protest in major cities like NYC, Atlanta, Houston, Seattle, and SF.

One woman in one city does not a massacre make.

Edited - it’s not my intent to make it seem that I am eager for violence. I’m eager to hear of the mass protests, not the violent repression. However, I haven’t heard any news of mass protests outside of MLPS.

I’m not gonna make any sweeping statements about the country, but you did mention my city so I’ll just give my appraisal of the situation here. We’re not getting massacred in the street, but protests are big and frequent. They’re mostly nonviolent, and serve the purpose of connecting people with organizations they can continue to work with after everyone goes home. Mutual aid, bail funds, lots of other local orgs doing good work under the radar. Huge counterprotests too when fascists come to the city to hold rallies.

Police have still found “cause” to crack down on protests and disperse them with pepper spray, make arrests, etc. ICE still abducts people here, despite the best efforts of our reporting network and protests meant to slow down operations. And we haven’t seen a full-scale occupation yet like what is happening in Minneapolis. But we are gearing up to be ready when it happens. I of course wish more people were involved, but there is substantial work being done here.

That’s because ICE is too chickenshit to come to large cities because they know they’ll get torn apart there.

Maybe - MAYBE 5% of Americans are involved in protest

It’s a lot less than that. 5% (or even 3.5%, which is what the research says is necessary to win) would be an incredible success.
