1L juice for comparison. You guys got these at your local? First time getting them in Brisbane. I use the paper bags for collecting recycling so the new size sucks for this.
Ugh.
My experience has been that Coles paper bags were already weaker/more prone to tearing than the Woolworths ones, so looks like they are doubling-down on their inferior product.
Yeah they’ll try and cut costs anywhere I reckon. Won’t be long and they’ll be disintegrating before you get them home!
I had assumed they were introduced specifically for home delivery because they are the same height as the crates. Are you saying they’re using these in-store?
This was click and collect, and brought out in crates, so maybe that’s why.
I had delivery recently and asked the driver about this. Can confirm they’re sized to fit the crates.
Yeah I like these bags because I have an old Coles crate cable tied to my bike for transporting bigger items, so when I go shopping if I forget my reusable bags I grab the “stubby bags” (as my family have started calling them) because I can work out exactly how much I can transport home.
But in Western Melbourne I often have to ask for them, they usually have a stash behind the customer service desk. They’re usually not with the other bags at check out, unless an employee has grabbed the wrong box to restock the checkout bag display.
They’re all just as shit. I broke a glass jar last time one of them broke on me.
On a related note, one of my endless todo items is to figure out a decent way to store them in the back of the car. My thought atm is to get some sort of flat, wide elastic strap and secure it to a corner of the boot, and then just kind of mush them all together in the elastic strap.
I’ve tried the car boot organisers. Their shit.
Get a reusable tote and chuck the strap over the headrest and the back of a seat? Fill it up with other bags if you need more than one.
Thats damn logical. Will give it a go. Thanks!
The elastic strap is a good idea. I have a couple of giant daiso bags that fit like 3 supermarket bags in them. Keeps them together and makes it a ton easier to carry instead of trying to loop 6 different bags through your fingers.
Wouldn’t know. Haven’t shopped at Coles or Woolies in years. Only if I’m out of town and that’s all I see. Try it; it’s lovely :)
You guys have bags? We don’t have bags in my part of the USA anymore. Plastic got banned and no stores have any paper bags.
In Victoria we didn’t ban plastic, we made it so corps had to charge you for them. Really stupid.
Government legislated forced cost recovery and profits.
It’s the future!
That’s because capitalism has corrupted the entire political system and only allows measures that cut business expenses or increase consumer spending.
Notice how the only “single use” plastics that were cut were business expenses. Meanwhile every product at the supermarket, every product you buy online, every postage satchel and padding — all wrapped in layers upon layers of single use plastic (or styrofoam, lol).
