I mean, if people are going to blame him for higher prices, it tracks.

I like how all of OP’s posts are about how terrible Biden is and that they think this makes Biden look bad

It does make him look bad/like an opportunist idiot. The same way he tried to take credit for employment numbers when people returned to work after COVID lockdowns.

It’s humorous to me Biden takes credit for it. It’s business, retail shopping is flat.

For Target, the price cuts are also an attempt to turn around sales, which fell last year for the first time since 2016, amid a predicted sluggish 2024.

So don’t eat food, take medicine or have access to a phone or internet… our problem up here is that our oligopolies are so entrenched that they’re often impossible to avoid.

That is a lie! They’re not impossible to avoid. We have plenty of farmer’s markets, co-ops, ethnic stores, independent grocers and Costco.

Also for cell/internet service you can switch to the smaller telecom companies: Lüm Mobile, Sasktel, Freedom Mobile, Fizz, Videotron, CityWest, Eastlink, Ecotel, Execulink, Ice, Nexicom, Sogetel, TBayTel, Lightspeed, Purple Cow, Oxio, VMedia, Teksavy, Petro-Canada Mobility, 7-Eleven SpeakOut.

Each one of them uses the Robellus network, and can only provide to some residential areas since that’s what the CRTC can regulate.

Robellus charges them all the same price, which is why all of them have nearly identical plans - because fundamentally, they are. You get even worse technical service since Robellus controls that and they drag their feet on it (not customer service, that’s often better).

CRTC has been increasingly toothless too on actually forcing competitive prices or service down. If you got recent fiber connection, you might be screwed as then there’s a moratorium on Robellus being forced to share service, so you might end up with no third-party options for a while.

And if you’re looking for a commercial zone connection, well, more likely than not RIP since CRTC doesn’t regulate that, so you’re stuck with whatever shit service at inflated prices Robellus offers.

Access to independent grocers/co-ops/etc is also not necessarily a given if you’re not in the right areas. Mostly more remote areas without much local agriculture tbf, although there may be more I’m not thinking of.

This comment is much more factually correct and agreeable than the other one you just made.

Sasktel and Vidéotron(Freedom and Fizz) own their own infrastructure so that is also a lie that each of them use Robellus network except for when you venture outside the areas of coverage you go onto a partner network which is one of the big 3 however these smaller telecom companies can negotiate lower usage fees than the individuals ever could.

Yes I agree that the CRTC needs to be fixed and be more adequately funded so they can have some teeth.
