I’ll see it, but I was really bummed to hear about the green screen/cgi of it. I want real damn cars in a real damn dessert and explosions and stuff that are real.
There’s still a lot of real stunts in the film. Not as much a Fury Road. But I also thought where they used the CGI was good. The film is even more stylized and dreamlike than any previous film in the series. There’s some parts where the CGI is obvious but, in the way, a giant matte painting was in old school movies. The film is almost yelling at you it clearly isn’t the real events rather a tale told by a history-man around a campfire.
I could tell from the trailer, but maybe that’s cause it was earlier footage. This isn’t just based on my being able to tell, it’s well published they kinda bullshitted this one. I guess it was cause filming fury road was fucking brutal and dangerous but…that seems like a very not Mad Max cowardly throwing the baby out with the bath water. Fucking fix the safety and scheduling issues from last time. I guess if the fake worked it worked, but just knowing they didn’t do it for real this time is gonna hurt it for me no matter what.
Its like, I do enjoy how local punk shows are generally more inclusive and moshing in an aggressive way (pogoing and kinda bopping around instead of push moshing or karate shit, still rocking but if you’re smol you’re good) but also when out of town going to punk shows in a basement where the plumbing explodes half way through and people are holding up cables and sweeping water out while a crowd thrashes out a tiny basement and eventually starts shooting off indoor fireworks as well is a breath of the least fresh air ever, but metaphorically fresh air. I genuinely enjoy and appreciate safety but every once in a while, give me fucking danger plz. Mad Max is on the Gimme Danger side for film to me on an extreme end. Despite my better judgment, knowing people were in serious fucking danger made watching Fury Road in theaters that much better. One of the best movie going experiences of my life, went at 10am with a quart of vodka hidden in my vest. Spiky hair, studied vest, patch pants, worn army boots. The ticket guy asked if I was dressed up to see the movie and I replied no, I dress like this every day but the weird genres of punk I’m into are basically doing mad max cosplay anyway. I had a great time and after the movie went and recorded a sick grindcore demo.
Edit: the rlm review mentioning that the movie seemed like it was made on coke, I was doing lines off.the seat in front of me. I had the theater to myself
Also I will be seeing this and will most likely still love it, don’t get me wrong. It’s mad max, and if thunderdome is still something I love, this will be fine. I’m also a little bummed about Charlize Theron not coming back but Anna Taylor Joy has slapped super hard in every performance I’ve seen her in and is easily one of my favorite ‘current’ actors and is well cast.
i just watched Furiosa, and there’s clearly a lot of practical stuff in it, just not at the same level as Fury Road. in certain scenes the CGI is distractingly obvious, but comparing it to disney’s corporate slop is insulting to the movie imo
Furiosa was really good btw
I had high expectations and it truly met them
A slower more sprawling movie? Sign me up!
Partner hated it tho, she does not like slow movies. I’m going again this week probably.

I added to my previous post to clarify, I’m still gonna see this and am pretty stoked to do so.
That ending, nailed it
Wait what
Most of the movie is marvel fake

I meant more in how it was done, not the effect.
There’s CGI and it is noticeable
But it’s nowhere near as bad as other modern movies with it
