This 4:3 ratio handheld is a blend of features from both the RG Cube and the RG556 models, incorporating LED joysticks which have become a favorite among gamers.

After using OnionOS, the only thing that matters to me is the OS. I have a Retroid and Android gaming is clumsy. I might as well use an attachable game controller to my phone and have a better screen and CPU than any retro handheld.
If you’re wanting a good controller, 8BitDo has a fantastic Bluetooth controller styled after the SNES controller (with extra shoulder buttons and joysticks!), the SN30 Pro. If you want it wired, I think they have a wired version, but otherwise you can get a USB-C cable and plug it into your phone that way. Easily replaced if the cable breaks, anyhow.
Take the newer ones with hall effect sticks though, it’ll last longer.
Too bad they don’t make it in EU SNES / Super Famicom colour schemes anymore though. I’m sure they do this to avoid problems with Nintendo, but I am not a fan of the new dark gray shell.

You make a valid point. Given that it uses the same chipset, I’d guess that it will be priced a bit higher than the RG35XXSP.

Totally agree with you about OnionOS. That’s what made the Miyoo Mini (Plus) devices great. Given that the RG40XX is expected to use a Linux OS, there’s a better chance that we’ll have some great custom firmware. I’m hoping for ArkOS, although GarlicOS may also be a possibility.
I have a Retroid and Android gaming is clumsy.
I agree that Android is a difficult beast to tame, though it can be done.
I think the fundamental issue with Android that can’t be fixed is complete power down and full boot time.
With a custom Linux, instead of sleep where there is minor battery drain, the handheld can turn itself off completely for no battery drain. Cold boot time is like 10 seconds. It means the hand held has a battery charge whenever you want to play it and you don’t have to wait.
