    Advocates have spoken out against the high court’s ruling, claiming it criminalizes homelessness and pushes the issue under the rug.

    Funny wording that one. Thats literally what it does, thats the purpose of the law.

      “The city still has policies that require it to offer shelter,” said Kashyap, referring to Proposition Q, which passed in 2016 and requires the city to offer alternatives to people living on the street. “We expect the city to still follow the local law.”

      I can’t speak any more broadly than this article, but they have a law to offer shelter. Now do they? Do I think any Republican leaning cities have such a policy or law? No and also no.

    Poverty has been around for so long, and even back in the day, the bottom of the barrel is offered a hand. It’s almost always cheaper then just letting them rot in destitution. Workhouses/Almshouses were a thing and it works better than this disrespectful state of affairs :( .

    Don’t the surrounding hospitals dump vulnerable patients off at the tenderloin? So now they will go from hospital to street to prison.
