a bit ago, I had to go to Iowa for work, setting up a new branch office.
I had to keep my mental filter on because literally everywhere in Iowa smells like pig shit. Even the cities (which, to be fair, usually smell like shit.).
I wasn’t there long enough to go nose blind, but it was a few months.
This map just… puts some numbers as to why… also makes me think Indiana probably smells like pig shit too… maybe not as much…
I lived often-downwind from a pig farm growing up, and yeah, you never go nose blind to that smell. You tolerate it better, maybe, but it always stinks.
My parents hated them. Long story short they blamed a livestock attack on our dogs getting out, it was the litigious 90s, and while they lost, it led to bad blood forever, stench aside, which they refused to do anything to mitigate.
