The person formerly known as Anthony goes by Emily now, let’s try and not use deadnames :)

I am very out of the loop here, what is this Anthony / Emily situation? I‘ve been wondering that he (she?) hasn’t been on screen for a while afaik

😂never knew her old name, so thank you for posting this link, so I could find out which person was meant. Really hope she comes back to making Linux videos in the future! Would love a collaboration with Jeff Geerling 😀

Gonna raise a practical consideration here and point out that almost nobody knows who that second name is. Not everybody is 2,000 yards deep in the Linus Cinematic Universe. For the record I wish this person the best and liked most of the content featuring said person.

          See my comment here: https://feddit.de/comment/2250211

You’re correct that that’s something to be considered, and there are different approaches to that that can be debated, but just keeping on using the deadname without recognizing the new name at all is not a solution. You also wouldn’t keep referring to newly wed people by their old last name just because nobody yet knows their new name.

Edit: also, your repeated use of “this person” in your comment has transphobic vibes to it. In this comment thread nobody is going to be confused anymore who Emily is, so there is literally no reason to not just use her name. Makes it seem like you’re just trying to avoid using her name for some reason.

Yes, that’s been a problem across this post (and some others). People do not want to call her Emily…

Not everybody is up to date with what happens to every employee at LTT. I had no idea she now went by Emily.

It’s very fine if you don’t know, and correct the deadnaming as soon as you know. It’s less fine, if you, like some others did, lie about what I told you to do, and whine that I “would remove all [your] posts”; to then proceed to entirely remove her previous name, and replace that with a rent directed at me…

I think he knows. But only writing Emily could also confuse some people who werr unaware

That’s fair enough, but it would have been way better in that case to use the correct name, and adding a reference in parenthesis or something for those who are not yet up to date, rather than using only the deadname.

Kudos for being an ally to those who need it. It’s a minor effort for us to support those trying to be their true selves and it means the world to them that we support them.

It’s clear Linus has come to the conclusion he’s in way over his head. A small channel to a full blown media/tech company is a whole different ball game.

Coming up to the new CEO announcement, you could tell Linus was burning out. He seemed tired, quick to anger, and just generally in a bad mood.

That shit rolls down hill. Pushing for more videos on a tight schedule and burning everyone else out with him has led to the sloppiness.

As for Madison, I believe her. The company clearly has managers who have no business managing and simply got those positions via having tenure as the company grew.

Culture rots when there is no accountability, and when you have a burned out, grouchy CEO trying to do too much, too fast.

So what will matter now is what they do about it. Linus hiring a CEO is a good first step. I feel LMG has always been remarkably transparent and they aren’t pretending Madison’s story didn’t happen.

So if there is accountability for what happened to Madison (as in the people who totally did not do their jobs should be likely fired) and if proper training and processes are in place to make sure it doesn’t happen again, then at the end of the day, they’re doing what they can when shitty stuff like this happens.

Ideally it never happens. But if it does, do what you can to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Say what you want about the LMS folks, they’ve always been open. Linus’ heart is almost always in the right place. He wants to build an ethical and transparent company. He is a huge tech nerd and that’s what makes LTT so entertaining.

If it continues to degrade, yeah, I’m going to pass on further supporting them. But until they prove they can’t or won’t act in good faith, I believe them

lol, is that what you took away from that? He burnt himself out, took it out on his employees, and his audience.

In what way is he looking like a victim here?
