Alberta’s whole economy is based on oil, everyone’s job there relies in some way on oil. But they don’t even try to invest in other stuff like Saudi Arabia, it’s all short term “increase extraction” mindset.
It’s understandable why people I’ve met from Alberta don’t want to believe in climate change, I know a guy from there who was shown (while in elementary school) a documentary calling Al Gore a charlatan.
When he came to Ontario he was honestly surprised we all believed in climate change, that was not at all the dominant opinion he had growing up, and he never really looked too hard into it himself.
