Here’s hoping the female characters have more than one dimension to their personality aren’t included simply for inclusivity’s sake.

Judging from the trailer, where there seems to be one female character who is the super-generic designated audience insert character, I wouldn’t get your hopes up. They could have done literally anything with their character designs, and they went with the blandest, indistinguishable anime girl look.

I got pretty far into it before I turned it off. I don’t typically watch trailers for things that I’m interested in because most of the time they reveal too much of what happens in the show/movie/game.

Edit: I mean, downvote me all you want, I’m just stating a hope for the series, sorry if that offends you.

Plus, even if you would have watched the whole thing, there is no guarantee for anything. Trailers are a marketing ploy to get you interested, hyped or otherwise engaged in the topic. Often enough have trailer and finished product deviated from one another. To beat a dead horse, cyberpunk or no man’s sky, while apparently good now the backlash on release was due to marketing, misleading trailers and so on.

I watched the trailer and he still has a point. It could easily be another Rings of Power situation.

Looks pretty sweet, I always hoped they’d do something like this for the silmarilion, Feanor would make such a good anime villain/protagonist

Please just call it, “Epic Medieval Fantasy Isekai or Tensei”. STOP trying to put “JRR Tolkien” or “LoTR” or “Arda” or anything JRR Tolkien in anything anymore. PLEASE STOP. It is Fantasy and that is good enough term for almost everything with Elves or Dwarves or Hobbits. It is all Fantasy. AND NO YOU ARE NOT JRR TOLKIEN. AND YOU WILL NEVER BE BETTER THAN JRR TOLKIEN. PLEASE STOP. DO YOUR OWN THING.

It is based on the story and world created by Tolkien. It isn’t just elves and dwarves. Sure, using the name is a cash grab but it’s not entirely false.

Using a dead author’s work without his permission is truly what you are doing. Wait till it is an author you like or a story you wish to protect. No one of you can deny what I said is true. Im done with this kind of moderators and community. Thanks for all the fish!

So as soon as the author dies, that’s it, no derivatives, no nods, just that’s it. If that was the way humans worked we would still be in the stone age. Thankfully it isn’t.

I thought the trailer was cool. It really piqued my interest. Not sure if it’ll be good, but do like they used some artistic direction from what Jackson had. The towers that carry orcs was right from the Jackson movies.

The story of Helm is rich. I enjoy the world of the rohirram and they’re some of my favorite people in Tolkien’s world.

    Epic?

Maybe I have seen too many animated series/movies but IMO it looked kinda generic , while I did recognize helm hammerhand (at least I think its him)

It just doesn’t look very lotr to me you know?

Trailer tldr and uh…spoilers, I guess?

Two old men fight. One old man has the power of Middle-Earth Royalty in his right hand. Other old man’s chin does not have the power of Middle-Earth Royalty. It was super effective! Dies. Young Chin Son vows revenge.

A tale as old as time.

      2 things:

      1. It’s a prequel.
      2. Watch LOTR. You know how Hollywood hates genre stuff? It was so good even they acknowledged it and all 3 films were nominated for Best Picture with the final one winning. They’re a masterpiece of filmmaking.

Lots of people will tell you to watch the extended editions. While they are my favorite versions I don’t think they’re necessarily better for a first viewing except for Fellowship, which has some stuff in the extended version that becomes important in the sequels and isn’t explained otherwise.

Return of the King almost definitely should be watched as the theatrical version the first time through.

Prequel. It is unlikely that any characters will be the same unless they try to make an elf cameo or two happen.
