What good are body cameras if they can just never show the footage? This killing is outrageous and at the same time so damned commonplace.

I take it you’re aware of the Miranda warning which notifies a person of their first amendment right? Well there’s a bit in there that’s implied that I don’t think the general public really knows:

“Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law” but what they don’t say is it will never be used in your defense. If they can avoid giving video during discovery they won’t, in many states they’re not even public.

They don’t have to say the Miranda anymore. Technically they are supposed to but scotus ruled it not constitutionally protected in June 2022.

Yes they do, no technically about it. Scotus simply said if an officer doesn’t miranda and then statements made are entered against the person in court (which is still a 5th amendment civil rights violation) the person cannot sue the officer about it because the person knew or should have known their Miranda rights.

It’s kinda amusing because the warning only exists because people don’t know their rights at all.

Yes you’re right. I should have used the word effectively rather than technically. Like so many erosions of our rights that may be on the books but in reality are ignored. SCOTUS didn’t codify the willful disregard of established law. They simply made it impossible to seek retribution against those sworn to uphold it. Fascists used to take over with small subtle steps and no one cared. Now they take over with obvious giant steps and no one even hears about it.

    That’s not what happened.

Chase Blackwell was a sheriffs deputy in Hancock county, Mississippi. He murdered a Florida college student outside of a home in Perkinston, Mississippi.

They have not released the body cam footage to anyone and Chase Blackwell resigned from the Hancock County Sheriffs department for “some personal issues within the office”

Cops killed a kid and you turned it into a rant on race. You are more upset about the media coverage than the murder. Why are you like this?

You are so quick to get pissed off about an imagined scenario in your head that you ignore and then you’re apparently unable to keep it to yourself. How does this serve you?

Think critically. I am not arguing your point, you can hate what you want. But what good does it do to rant about race and the media right now in this thread? For now, focus your anger on the perpetrators of the crimes.

Furthermore, you’re in a community highlighting one of the issues you seem passionate about. Everyone here is on your side as far as police brutality goes. This is a place for making a big deal out of police killings regardless of the victim’s race…Be the media you want to see

        rant on race

I’m not the one who turned police brutality into a goddamn race issue! 3 years ago, it was turned into a race issue by all the BLM clowns who dismissed police brutality against anyone other than black folks. What part of that can you not understand?? I’m calling out all the asswipes who were race baited back in 2020.

You don’t fix a problem as wide spread as police violence by EXCLUDING a huge number of victims and then think you will get anywhere.

Lots of people who support or identify with BLM have made it a point to say it happens to white people too. I’ve plenty of times pointed out the killing of Daniel Shaver, and I know I’m not the only one. If you haven’t heard us saying the problem affects everyone, then you aren’t listening. You’re hearing only what you want to hear; the parts that make you angry or justify your anger.

It’s to this day absolutely incredible to me how angry some people get if you just say “Black lives matter”. This simple statement is enough to trigger people like you. Why? Why can’t we simply say “Black lives matter” without people like you jumping in and saying “all lives matter”?
