2 passes. Face lather. Good shave.

Cherie Tobacco is a favorite fragrance of mine. It’s like a very sweet pipe tobacco scent. I’m not sure about the name. I can’t find a famous scent that it might be a dupe of, and the pairing of words is odd to me. I might address my wife as ma chérie (my dear or darling). There are cherries on the label, along with tobacco. In French, that might be Tabac Cerise. Darling Tobacco or Dear Tobacco seems like an odd name, and tabac is masculine so cheri would be more appropriate. Dunno. This is way beyond my schoolboy French. I’m puzzled by the name, but I like the fragrance a lot.

Today’s shave felt as if the edge on this razor is dulling a bit. It could also be an off-day on my technique. No nicks or irritation, but not as close in some areas as I expect. I need to check my data and see when I last honed this razor.

If I had to make an educated guess, the artisan just went with a name that sounds french enough to be believable for their cherry tobacco soap. It’s the same with some pseudo-latin that sounds intelligent enough to impress some people, but actual latin teachers will laugh about it.

I think you are probably spot-on! The woman who owns Elysian Soap Shop is in Pennsylvania. This is dumb, but I’m curious enough that I think I’ll ask her. It’s a great scent, but to me, the name is (obviously :) ) distracting.
