FYI previous discussions here about the Collins couple (there’s no quota or anything, just if you want to read more comments):
The article says in a couple parts that this couple claims to be pro-LGBT rights. This could not be farther from the truth, at least for the T part. They speculated on one of their podcasts that trans people exist because of anime avatars, and also derided trans people as “the priest class of urbanism”.
Not very elite as they don’t seem to understand genetics and the statistical finding of regression towards the mean.
Essentially their children are more likely to be less intelligent and talented than them. Its not a certainty of course, just a statistical observation. But you can’t game evolution and genetics as they are attempting to doing. Its a population wide process.
Human genetics are very complex and different combinations of genes give different outcomes. A combination of genes expressed in one parent is not going to be repeated in their child as there is a newnmix woth 50% different genes.
There is no guarentee that their new genes combinations will be beneficial and on average its more likely their traits will yield patterns that regress closer to the population mean than a new extreme with higher intelligence or more creativity or taller children. It can happen of course, but mating to merge disirable traits in one generation isn’t going to be effective.
And Horse Husbandry or Dog breeding is a multi generational process requiring direction, and has many many discarded gene lines along the way. It can work but it is an extended process and literally is at a population level, even if a small population.
So basically these people are not as intelligent as they think and are making life choices based off dodgy genetic ground. They’d be better off finding people they like rather than people they want to breed with. But maybe they have still found a good love match because they share their outlook and life philosophy even if its silly. I just feel sorry for the kids who may not be able to live up to their parents expectations.

No no they’re super smart and unless we come up with some sort of way for gay people to have children they’ll disappear entirely (gay people of course first came to earth from space in the year 1952, but the starship’s egg chambers were damaged in the crash landing)
I am very sure that the only reason they talk about positive eugenics is because negative eugenics, literally forcing some people to not have kids, is taboo. Then again they are pretty stupid and arrogant so maybe they really believe they’re breeding superbabies…
Not sure they even see their babies as babies. The whole ‘positive’ eugenics trend is giving therapists some work at least

I usually read the articles linked in Lemmy but I haven’t managed to bring myself to read the whole of this one. It’s utter lunacy, linked (of course) to the EA and the cult of Yudkowsky.
Apparently the Wikipedia for The Collins is also an endless source of crazy.
