My uncle-in-law “busted his knee” chasing a perp like a few years into being a cop back in the 80’s and has been on police disability since. Doesn’t stop him from making side money painting houses, oddly enough.

Found the one good cop. Kinda not joking. This is not the behavior of a person that is doing okay. He may have actually realized what the police are and realized he had no hope of making a normal life work and shot his shot.
He didn’t have to scapegoat an imaginary person of color but I guess you’re right.
