      Marble is actually a pretty soft stone. That’s part of why it’s so widely used in sculptures.

        Only slightly harder than limestone. Which is also why you don’t see many buildings made from granite, which is stupidly hard.

          That depends on where you live. All the historical buildings and structures in my hometown are made primarily of granite, and most recent public buildings include granite elements. Buildings are usually built with whatever materials are available locally, and people have figured out how to work with hard stone thousands of years ago.
