Two weeks ago, Matthew Memoli, who was acting NIH director at the time, sent an e-mail to the directors of several NIH institutes. It said that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which is the NIH’s parent agency, “has been directed to fund research on a few specific areas” related to what it calls “chemical and surgical mutilation” of children and adults — a reference to gender-affirming care and surgery. “This is very important to the President and the Secretary” of the HHS, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, the e-mail added.

I’m just going to quote tumblr user catboybiologist here:

    Hey.

    Hey.

    Hey.

    (quote in the OP)

    They are targeting adults.

    US people:

Create a backup plan for access to HRT. Now.

Prepare in advance, stockpile what you legally (or in minecraft) can, find diy that you trust.

They are going to take your medically required medication from you. This study is expected to start in about six months, and will likely be bullshit that only takes a couple months after that. There is still time.

However, I would predict an almost guarantee of a major federal legal restriction on adult HRT access in the 6mo-1yr from now range. I don’t want any of the bullshit I got at the time of the election about “fearmongering”. I stand by everything I said then.

Not just a good idea for US-based people. Everyone make sure you have a plan B and plan C because the heritage foundation is pushing this nonsense around the world.

That study is going to come up with absolutely nothing to support their crusade. The problem is they won’t stop just because of proof.

Whatever they find, they’re going to try and spin it to suit their agenda. They’re not interested in actual facts.

Statistics are massively manipulable. I did an entire unit on assessing the quality of research and stats. If someone (ie the general public) doesn’t know what to look for you can just about say whatever you want.

There has been studies on this. Turns out trans individuals experience less regret than those that receive other elective and life savings surgeries. Yes there are some who regret their decision to transition but so does my dad after getting bypass surgery because he’s in constant pain now. Doesn’t mean bypass surgery should be outlawed. Hell, look at the percentage of people that regret breast enhancement surgery and you don’t see conservatives fighting to outlaw those.
