Carlos being his own race engineer was brilliant. At the end there when the race engineer said “Gap to Norris point eight” and the Smooth Operator replied “Yes, that is on purpose” really cracked me up!

Great race. Sainz and Norris deserved that. Someone needs to give Lawson a seat next year.

I believe Ricciardo’s chances of retaining his AT seat are currently quite slim.

A more realistic scenario might be Sargent getting sacked, Mick Schumacher taking the Williams seat, and Lawson securing the AT seat.

Regarding Ricciardo, he could face the possibility of being sacked too, or he might have to contend with Tsunoda for consideration in the second RB seat if Perez doesn’t improve.

Tsunode isn’t having the greatest season, it might even happen he is sacked and AT race Ricciardo and Lawson next year.

Ricciardo and Lawson is my money.

Alpha Tauri will be more and more it’s own team rather than just for rookies for RB as of next year.

What would you do with tsunoda. He has been great all year and has been getting fucked by his own team, his own car and other drivers since returning from the break. He could have easily scored in zandavoort, Monza and Singapore. What rational do you give for dropping him¿?

Carlos is schooling Leclerc at the moment. Yet everything we always hear is how Ferrari is throwing money at Leclerc because of how good he is.

I’ve mentioned this a few times in other threads. When it comes to pure speed, Leclerc is exceptional. However, he has struggled with consistency and missed opportunities for improvement on occasion. There have been moments where it seemed like Leclerc expected Ferrari to grant him preferential treatment without making a substantial investment in the team.

On the contrary, Carlos Sainz has shown significant improvement. He emphasizes that consistency is the key at Ferrari, and his performance reflects this belief. This strategy isn’t entirely new; Vettel tried a similar approach during his time at Ferrari. Despite Ferrari’s internal politics hindering them from achieving more wins, Vettel’s consistency was a key factor in their success during his tenure.

Leclerc has raw talent in spades but I feel as if he’s lacking racecraft, and he has a habit of trying to bend the laws of physics to get more out of the car – which usually n end up with him just bending a Armco and DNFing. Carlos’ skill level might not be quite on Charles’ level, but he’s a tactical racer, and able to make strategy calls from the car in a way that works better for him than if he leaned entirely on Ferrari’s meme-tier pitwall crew.

Now if he’d just knock off on cutting unpredictably to the inside on Turn 1 Lap 1, he’d be golden…

So happy for Carlos and for F1 to have such a competitive finish between so many teams for the win this season.

Very interested to see where RB are next race. While it looked like the car was better at the end they had a sizable tyre advantage as they had pitted out of phase with everyone else. Merc had a two second advantage over the same cars and RB weren’t two seconds slower than everyone else on Saturday so their tyre advantage at the end has helped cover up just how bad that RB was this weekend.

It seems that most dominant cars struggle in Singapore, so RB and Max will be back on top next week

And with that Ferrari win, Red Bull’s incredible run in 2023 to achieve the perfect season comes to its end.

Seriously now, I know it’s been a bit of a moot point with Verstappen this year, but can we please stop spoiling the race win in the title and photo for those who don’t watch it live?!?!

I always remove Lemmy and other social media from my phone on race day, since I always watch delayed. I highly recommend it.

You can’t expect everyone to accomodate you in these kinds of things.

It’s hard to supress the automatic Internet zombie inside of me sometimes. I’d be waiting in line at the bakery, or sitting in the sofa and just out of habit open up an app.

My social media apps are web based though, so reinstalling is really easy and I’m still logged in when I do.

Prior to reddit imploding, I used a parental control app to lock myself out of my reddit and youtube apps on race days.

Why does he have his hands up like that? He’s not a boxer, he’s a race car driver.
