    A cowboy once told me, that you can spot a fake by how clean their hat is.

    Since (so he told me) in case a bull had an episode, they would throw their hat in the other direction and climb over the corral fence. The bull would often go after the hat.

        Many do, same for boots. Though the non work hat is likely older and worn in.

          Oh that’s interesting, so they save the best hat for work… I would assume the opposite except safety things.

            No it’s more the fun hat does not need to be replaced, so it gets worn in more. It could also be sentimental like your first cowboy hat or your fathers hat.

              I’ve also seen some hats that were very expensive because they were made out of fancy materials or by a proper craftsman.

              Think about sneakers vs dress shoes.
