Their homes are in Moomin valley. Snorkmaiden lives with her brother, while the Moomins (Moomin, Mamma and Pappa) live in the aptly named Moomin house.
They do not have a home on the riviera. They moved into a hotel room for a bit, which they are not aware they will have to pay for. They saw the welcome sign outside the hotel and thought it was just someone offering a place to stay out of kindness, as that is typically the logic they operate under when receiving guests in their home.
The hotel staff in turn simply thinks they are eccentric millionaires.
